Linda Rowe

...a touch of glass

About Linda ...

I am a glass designer who lives and works in Dorset. I  learned the art of stained glass, Tiffany, mosaics and glass fusing at a glass course in Wimborne.

It was glass fusing that really inspired me; working particularly with dichroic glass to make fused glass jewellery and recycling glass bottles into platters, bowls and clocks. With encouragement from my family and friends who liked what I made, I have my own fusing kilns and am now selling Funky-bottles, beautiful glass jewellery and other glass pieces.

The glass used in my jewellery has been cut, layered, then kiln fired in extreme heat to produce the desired stunning textures, colours and shapes. Using Dichroic glass a speciality glass developed in the 1950's by the aerospace industry. 'Dichroic' refers to the property of having more than one colour when viewed from different angles.

All my glass designs are created by me and are beautiful unique pieces of jewellery.
I am ethical, environmentally conscious and proud to be an innovative recycler of glass bottles. I aim to help reduce the large amount of waste and rescue bottles destined for the bottle bank. The  bottles used are recycled into functional art, and practical items.

"Thank you again for matching the earrings to my outfit"

"This afternoon at Castlepoint in Bournemouth I bought a Speckled Hen bottle clock from you and can't tell you how pleased I was with this purchase… if I had looked for 10 years I couldn't have found anything better, so thanks very much. I can't imagine how you produce this glass, or how long it takes you to do each piece, but it all looked very impressive. Once again, thank you."

"Thank you for the wonderful fused champagne bottle. It is perfect and so unique and personal to my daughter. It brings back happy memories of her 18th birthday celebrations every time we see it hanging on the wall."
